The All-Seeing Eye
The ubiquitous eye of
God
Cloud jumping
island hopping
crossing rivers
or
separating them?
A car chase down
just
dark enough alley ways
In the rain –
Cat hissing/fur out
hi hat garbage cans
toppling/crashing
Hub caps spinning off tight curves –
It’s raining harder now
piano keys are slamming black or
white
or
together?
Piano keys are climbing the stair well
the
fire escape
The door is slammed shut but not locked –
In black and white from an upward camera angle
viewers pause for the foot kicking out
door shattered
God monitoring –
Cloud jumping
island hopping
river crossing
or
just trying to keep up?

* The All-Seeing Eye is the ninth jazz album by the American jazz saxophonist, composter and bandleader Wayne Shorter. Shorter explained that the album was conceived as an attempt to depict the meaning of life, existence and the nature of God and the universe. The All-Seeing Eye depicts the ubiquitous eye of God.
