Gloria’s Step Across Decades
………………(For Al Summ)
……… Going into my bedroom at 2 a.m. in 1970
Lost in the meditation of the
……… Bill Evans Sunday Vanguard trio
Obligato revelations of a trio
……… that transformed listening
Right before my ears
……… I knew why Alice needed Wonderland,
heard Gloria’s wondrous light
……… Arabesque approach on the stair
Solar soft moonlight shone, foreshadowed
……… Jade Visions through half opened windows,
Satori steps of a trio
……… That danced through decades of listening,
Even when I sang in 2017
……… the first chorus of Gloria’s Step into my
Passing friends ear, a favorite
……… which I know he loved, a tribute
that began as revelation, a eulogy ever after.
