June Bugs & Berries
So Nice (Summer Samba) plays
on a vinyl record.
She’s in deep sleep.
Ladybugs dressed in black
and red fly from the chimney
onto the skylight.
One by one they descend
like Japanese zeros
encircling the kitchen.
She rolls up a newspaper
to smash them away from
the luscious fruit.
The record skips on Agua de Beber
she awakens to an empty
basket of berries on the counter.

Brava, Jerrice, for another intriguing poem.
One by one they descend
like Japanese zeros

What a unique image!
Ooh! This dreamscape of berries and awakenings! Love.
