The Phil Schaap Jazz Collection at Vanderbilt University

Phil Schaap (1951-2021) was one of the most prominent voices in New York radio since he began broadcasting in 1970.

This collection encompasses Phil’s recordings of his own radio broadcasts, interviews, and other live events over decades.

On the Turntable

The song 'Chuhayster' is by the Ukranian-born composer Roman Baranskiy, a piece he says is drawn from Ukrainian mythology. A beautifully produced video and composition which features Scott Amendola on drums and Mat Muntz on bass.
