“Where I’ve Been” – a brief update from the editor

Dear Readers:

…..I am writing this from Kamloops, British Columbia, along a journey my partner Rhonda and I have been on since July 29.

…..On that date we ferried from Bellingham, Washington to Juneau, Alaska, subsequently traveled to Glacier Bay for whale and glacier watching, and then ferried to Skagway and Haines, Alaska, and eventually into the Yukon, British Columbia (along the Alaska Highway) Alberta, and back to British Columbia, driving, tent camping, and hoteling through jaw dropping landscapes the likes of which I have never seen.

…..The trip has not been without its challenges. One example…As we left Skagway for Whitehorse, Yukon (along a road in the middle of nowhere) we were mere yards from being pelted by rocks falling from hundreds of feet above us in a sudden landslide that closed the road (and scared the hell out of us), forcing us to return to Skagway, altering our route by 500 miles to get back to where we were originally headed. The detour turned out to be a glorious experience, and introduced us to parts of the Yukon we hadn’t planned to see.

…..The sheer enormity and beauty of the this part of the world is truly mind-blowing, and a reminder of where we fit into it, and how our actions are impacting it. In many ways, this journey has been a life-changing experience that I hope to share more of with you in the future.
