Chasing Notes
in what feels like
an overflow of emotions
that I can’t outrun ./ .I cobble together
some excuses. I choose Art Farmer
as my soundtrack.
I’m clued in.
I heard your siren call.
My eyes are drifting.
I might end up skipping
like I did back when
I was a child.
life was still fun back then
in a pre-unicorn reality. I was torn between
a rock & a hard place. I didn’t know about
jazz / none of that, no sir! .now I’m chasing
notes. now I’m babbling like a happy baby.
now I’m the solo witness to my own
homecoming. now I want to tell you
about this different world.
