A Poem in Search of a Title
Flute fragrant & pointing the way with his instrument in 1967
……………………………Herbie Mann arrives to a Village
……………………………………………………………………..in a sidecar
emerging from a maze of passageways with the Wailing Dervishes
……………………………steering them to the Medina
…………………………………………a clustered market of ancient sound
a blend of oud, vibes, hand-borne percussion & enchanting cloth
permitting an open mind to travel, enter & wander
to places unimagined before
…………………………………………But now in 2025
……in these damning times
……the rattle of AK47s indiscriminately compete for harmonic
…………………………………………dominance over such a collective contagious rhythm
……………………………………………….intentionally
……………………………………………………………………..to create it seems
…………………………………………………………………………………….the demise of beautiful life
