Spring Is Here
& the birds outside my window
aren’t shy about asking for
what they need
a little love
a little attention
beneath a glittering
canopy of stars
they are non-jaded
in expressing their
expectations
it’s Spring
& so they sing
for hours
& hours
desire incessant! & they aren’t shy
about seeming so needful
to not ask
is to languish in silence
to not sing would be a waste
of one’s song
