…..Pianist/vocalist/songwriter Bobby Troupe’s earliest musical success came in 1941 with the song “Daddy,” which Sammy Kaye and His Orchestra recorded. It was #1 on the Billboard chart for eight weeks, and was the number five best-selling record of 1941. Glenn Miller, Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters are among other artists who recorded the song.
…..In 1946, Nat King Cole had a hit with Troup’s most popular song, “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66,” which was also famously recorded by Chuck Berry and the Rolling Stones.
