The Color of Jazz

by

James Allen

Greetings,

My name is James Allen. My passion over the last several years has been to paint interpretative works of art related to music.

Growing up, I developed a passion for music of which I was involved in different ensembles for six years. It was the music that inspired me in all aspects of my life and about six years ago it gave birth to "Cool Jazz," the first of the interpretive musical pieces. From then on, I continued to develop the same style within the same interpretive framework I began with "Cool Jazz."

In the last few years I have been blessed to participate in international musical projects such as "The Best of Polish Jazz 2005" of which my artwork, "The Color of Jazz" was featured on their CD cover. I obtained a solo art show at the Perspective Gallery where international, national, and regional artists in Virginia have displayed artwork. The latest project I have done is a cookbook in which my artwork is featured for the jazz culture in Newport, Rhode Island.

Each of my paintings is a story, feeling, mood, rhythm, song, dance, and life. Whether you are a musician, artist, or spectator, I share with you what so many great musicians and artists have inspired in me. Thank you for allowing me to share my paintings with you.
